#BeHonestlyFit – Renae Boemecke

August 22, 2015

I am so excited to present the first part of my Be Honestly Fit series with Renae Boemecke!

What is Be Honestly Fit?

The ‘Be Honestly Fit’ series was created to help inspire and motivate women all over the world. It is to show them that being fit and healthy is not rocket science, and that anyone can live a healthy and active lifestyle. One size does not fit all, and the Be Honestly Fit series explores how women of all different shapes and sizes have transformed their lives for the better.

Now that you know what the Be Honestly Fit series is all about, let’s meet Renae!

Renae Boemecke

Hi Renae! Introduce yourself 🙂
Hi, my name is Renae K Boemecke. I am 27 years old and was born and raised in Moline, Illinois. I have one sibling, an older brother Brice. I have two children both boys, Rylan and Quintin.

Profile

How can someone who is new to healthy eating get started?
For someone who is just starting out eating healthy, I suggest they get rid of all the unhealthy foods in their house. Lock them up, throw them out, or give them away. Make a grocery list and go to the store by yourself and stick to only foods from the list.

What does the day in the life of Renae look like?
Before I workout, every morning I drink a pre-workout powder added to water to give me the boost I need to hit it hard. Breakfast, I almost always have a smoothie – it’s quick, simple, easy, and tasteful! Lunch, I make sure to always add in a healthy fat, meat, vegetable, and a carb. For ex. Turkey burger with lettuce bun added tomato on top, sweet potato baked fries, and a slice of avocado. Dinner is always the same as lunch is in requirements. I may switch dinner up a bit and do tilapia, fresh green beans, and brown rice. I generally always have two snacks during the day, I will do a piece of fruit for morning time with a hardboiled egg and afternoon snack I will have a Lara Bar (yum!!!!).

before and after

Did you always love fitness? If not, how did you start working out?
I have always been active; I played soccer during high school. After high school things changed as I had two sons within 19 months and didn’t make time for myself. It took a few years after my children were born until I wasn’t happy with how I looked and most importantly felt. I hired a personal trainer and that’s what boosted me to get my fitness journey started.

What does your week of workouts look like?
My workout schedule stays the same almost every week, of course there are times when things come up and I have to switch around workouts but it gets done. Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays I do resistance workouts, Tuesdays and Thursdays I do HIIT and LISS. Saturday, I like to be outside, so I’m always running around, swimming, or going for walks along the river and Sundays are rest days.

Exercise move you can’t live without?
It may sound crazy but one move I can’t live without is box jumps. They are fun and challenging.

What’s your morning ritual?
I wake up at 5:30 AM, head downstairs to the apartment gym, hit my workout, and head back to my apartment. At that point the kids are waking up so I fix their breakfast. If I haven’t prepped something the night before I usually make my smoothie while thinking about what I need to prep as quickly as possible for lunch and snacks when I’m at work during the day. I slam my smoothie, get the kids outfits ready – which is a task itself. Put together my lunch and snacks and take a quick shower to rinse off the sweat from running around like a crazy women and working out and leave the apartment to beat traffic and drop kids off to school and head to work.

How do you juggle healthy eating with working out?
Working out is only a small part of the process, with a poor diet you won’t see much change. I always believe you can’t out train a poor diet. I would rather have all my meals set for the day then get a workout in because that’s how crucial healthy eating is to me.

What advice would you give for busy mothers struggling to fit in their workouts and eat healthy?
My suggestion to all the busy moms trying to live fit is: make time for you. You deserve at least one hour to yourself during the day to help you feel energized and amazing.

What is your favorite indulgence?
PIZZA!!!!!!

Is there anyone you look up to for inspiration?
I find inspiration is so many women for many different reasons. Going to school, working, taking care of kids and still find time to live a healthy lifestyle. So many people with so many different situations and it’s very inspiring to me to see how they can do it. So I can’t just name one specific person.

What advice do you have for Honestly Fitness readers that want to get fit and healthy for life?
Stay connected with people on the same mission as you!
